Great Britain committed to providing Support to BiH Judiciary

The Ambassador of the United Kingdom (UK) of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Julian Reilly, visited the High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council of Bosnia and Herzegovina (HJPC BiH) today.

In the inaugural visit, Ambassador Reilly spoke with the President of the HJPC of BiH, Halil Lagumdžija, about important issues related to the quality and efficient functioning of the judiciary, with special reference to the processing of cases of organized crime and high-level corruption, and to the procedure for appointing judges and prosecutors in the context of selecting the best candidates. to judicial positions.

Lagumdžija welcomed the newly appointed ambassador, emphasizing the positive experience in cooperation with the Embassy of Great Britain.

“Your views and support for preserving the independence of the judiciary have always been concrete and principled,” said Lagumdžija.

Ambassador Reilly emphasized that Great Britain is fully committed to providing support to the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

He also emphasized that he will continue to support the HJPC of BiH, bearing in mind the importance of the institution in terms of preserving the principles of transparency and responsibility, which is necessary for the quality and efficient functioning of the judiciary.

The meeting, which was also attended by the Director of the Secretariat of the HJPC BiH Admir Suljagić, Deputy Director Hajro Pošković and Head of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the HJPC BiH Marjana Popović, ended with an assessment of the success of cooperation between the two institutions and the announcement of new projects, according to the press release.
