Officials in Republika Srpska (RS) do not accept the decision of the High Representative Christian Schmidt to annul the Law on Immovable Property of RS.
Member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and President of the SNSD Milorad Dodik was the first to react by telling the High Representative to “buy a one-way ticket to Germany.” The statement of his party colleague and state parliamentarian Sanja Vulic that the Minister of Foreign Affairs Bisera Turkovic (SDA) “took Schmidt to a tekke (tekija) in Mejtas, so he is enchanted” is shameful, Klix.ba writes.
For the Secretary-General of the Government of the RS, Sinisa Karan, this decision is an indicator that BiH, as he said, is a protectorate.
”BiH has no sovereign power. Entities have power, this is now a classic protectorate. The biggest guilt lies with the Constitutional Court of BiH, which allowed it after the first decision of the High Representative,” Karan stated.
There was also a reaction from the legislature of RS and another of Dodik’s party colleagues. The Vice President of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska (NARS), which adopted the disputed law, Denis Sulic, stated that the decision of the High Representative does not change anything.
”The property was given to the RS by the Dayton Peace Agreement, and no decision can change that. In that regard, the RS will continue to preserve and strengthen its institutions,”Sulic emphasized.
DNS President Nenad Nesic called for an “uprising” against Schmidt.
”We all need to stand up against Christian Schmidt. We no longer accept his decision-making and the imposition of laws. The goal here is clear, and that is for the RS to remain an empty shell – without property, without institutions, without authorizations. Goal of Schmidt, his mentors, as well as Bosniak politicians, is a unitary BiH. This is perhaps the main step towards that goal. The answer must be clear, the RS is in question,” Nesic said.
On the other hand, most parties based in the Federation of BiH (FBiH) welcomed this decision and called for the repeal of other unconstitutional laws adopted by the NARS.
