High Delegation of Qatar paid official Visit to BiH Ministry of Defense

Minister of Defense of BiH Marina Pendes met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense of Qatar Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah with her associates on August 7. This meeting was part of the official visit of the delegation of the Ministry of Defense of Qatar to the Ministry of Defense of BiH.

During the meeting was established that there are great conditions and mutual interest for cooperation in the field of training of military personnel of the two armed forces, as well as participation in peacekeeping operations all over the world.

Minister Al Attiyah expressed special interest in the possibility of cooperation with BH companies that are engaged in military industry, for which was emphasized that it is not under the competence of the Ministry of Defense of BiH, but they expressed their support and readiness to help trepresentatives of the Ministry of Defense of Qatar to establish contacts with institutions in BiH that are dealing with that sector.

They also discussed the current regional challenges, the Euro-Atlantic path of BiH and the activities of the Ministry of Defense of BiH and the state of BiH regarding the conditions for membership in the NATO – Membership Action Plan (MAP). Minister Pendes noted that “we see our future in the EU and NATO,” and Minister Attiyah said that “BiH has a future in NATO, but NATO would also gain a lot with that membership as well.”

At the end, Minister Al Attiyah expressed his full support to the activities that the Ministry of Defense of BiH, led by Minister Pendes, is currently implementing.
