The inflow of direct foreign investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) in 2022 amounted to 1.44 billion BAM, which is the highest amount recorded so far, according to the data of the Central Bank of BiH.

These record direct investments in 2022 are higher by 310 million BAM, i.e. by 21 percent compared to 2021, when they amounted to 1.13 billion BAM. What is interesting is that the United Kingdom (UK) was in first place among foreign investors in BiH last year.

Namely, in terms of geographical distribution, the largest inflow of investments during 2022 was from the UK (271.8 million BAM), followed by Austria (175.8 million BAM), the Netherlands (166.6 million BAM), Germany (159.5 million BAM) and Serbia (134.4 million BAM).

So how did the UK come out on top? This happened mostly thanks to investments in the field of mining, i.e. production of base metals and energy, but also in other branches of industry.

Observed by activities, the most investments in 2022 were realized in the area of production and supply of electricity in the amount of 199.9 million BAM, then in the area of financial service activities in the amount of 146.8 million BAM, and in the area of production of base metals 122.9 million BAM.

One of the largest UK investments in BiH is currently the mine in Vares, that is, the excavations carried out by Adriatic Metals, whose parent company is registered in the UK, Biznis Info reports.
