High Representative Christian Schmidt commented for the German media Taggeschau.de on the celebration of the unconstitutional day of the Republika Srpska (RS) entity, which was held in Istocno Sarajevo this year.

Schmidt said that he was worried about the celebration of January 9th, but also the decision of the National Assembly in Banja Luka to go against the decisions of the court and the state.

“I am worried about January 9th, but also about the decision of the Parliament in Banja Luka to go on a path contrary to the decisions of the court and the state. The gradual dismantling of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), that is the real problem for me,” said Schmidt.

Namely, Schmidt promised to give full support to the prosecutors in prosecuting the parade and pointed out that he believes that the international community, especially the European Union (EU), should stop secessionist tendencies.

On Monday, the authorities of the RS entity marked January 9th with a police parade in Istocno Sarajevo, thus disobeying the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH. In reaction to these events, High Representative Christian Schmidt warned that such behavior could have consequences, Klix.ba reports.
