‘If you want Peace, prepare for War’: Belarusian president says

Should a war break out in Belarus, the country will be ready, President Alexander Lukashenko said.

“Don’t believe those who say that we want war. We are preparing for war, make no bones about it. It wasn’t me who was the first to say: ‘If you want peace, prepare for war.’ It’s an apt saying to this day,” Lukashenko pointed out during a trip to the Gomel Region, as cited by the BelTA news agency.

According to the Belarusian president, the country’s armed forces are getting the necessary training, while various weapons and military equipment are being provided to the army. “If someone [in unfriendly countries] howls, lashes out at us, you should know that this means we are doing the right thing. In contrast, if they start praising us, it means trouble,” the Belarusian leader noted.

The head of state emphasized that Belarus posed no threat to anyone. “We don’t need to threaten anyone. We don’t crave others’ lands. In fact, we pray to God to give us strength to cultivate the land we already have,” Lukashenko noted.

Earlier, the Belarusian president highlighted the importance of keeping the army in a state of combat readiness, stressing that “gunpowder should be kept dry.”, TASS writes.
