The Israeli delegation submitted to Hamas a new proposal for a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, through a mediator in Cairo, it was announced from the office of the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu.

“Israel expects the mediators to take swift action regarding Hamas in order to move the negotiations towards an agreement. Israel continues to make all necessary efforts to free the hostages from Hamas and return them to the country,” the statement said.

The office points out that the Israeli negotiating delegation, which includes representatives of the Mossad, the Israel Security Agency and the Israel Defense Forces, will return to Cairo today, after concluding an additional intensive round of negotiations.

The “Khan” radio station announced that the Israeli side presented to the mediators during the consultations in Cairo an amended and more flexible position regarding the return of the population to the north of Gaza, so that progress could be made towards the release of the hostages, and that it is waiting for Hamas’s response.

The report notes that Mossad director David Barnea and the director of the Israel Security Agency could join the talks in Cairo, if Tel Aviv receives a positive response from Hamas, Tass reported.
