Inflation in the Eurozone the highest in the last three Years

115 000 Euros thetimes.co.ukOfficial numbers show that the inflation in the Eurozone increased in December to the highest level in more than three years, mostly thanks to the growth of energy costs.

Statistical agency of the EU, the Eurostat, stated on Wednesday that the annual inflation rate increased to 1.1 in December from 0.6 in November.

The rate in December is the highest since September 2013, when the inflation also amounted to 1.1 percent.

Those numbers will probably make the policy creators in the European Central Bank happy. They have been trying to reduce inflation under two percent.

However, some are concerned that the inflation will remain relatively high when the energy costs are excluded. The key rate, which excludes factors such as energy and food, increased from 0.8 percent to 0.9 percent last month.
