Interesting Program for the Anniversary of the Museum

museum literatureMuseum of Literature and Theatre Art in BiH is celebrating 55 years of work, in the year when the 55th anniversary of the Nobel Prize for Ivo Andrić.

On this occasion, employees of the Museum prepared a program which is primarily significant for its content. The program was elaborated on at yesterday’s press conference, where events which are to be held between June 18 and June 28 were announced.

Within these two important anniversaries, the following events will be organized: exhibition “Bridges” by Nedim Mušić, opening and the expansion of the Permanent Exhibition of the Museum, promotion of the audio-guide through the permanent exhibition, promotion of the digital edition of the original manuscript “The Bridge on Drina” by Ivo Andrić, play “Vesela večer” (Happy Evening) by SARTR, and the exhibition “Poland in the BiH Theatre Heart”.

Digital edition of Andrić’s “The Bridge on Drina” was edited by Damir Arsenijević and supported by the Foundation for historical heritage.

Namely, in accordance with Andrić’s wishes, the original manuscript of his novel is owned by the Museum.

Chris Bennett from the Foundation highlighted that in this way Andrić’s novel is preserved for future generations.

On the occasion of the program organized by the advisor in the Museum AMina Abdičević, “Poland in the BiH Theatre Heart”, Ambassador of Poland to BIH Andrzej Krawczyk said that there is no theatre in BiH which has not staged one of Polish playwrights.

Furthermore, Krawczyk also expressed satisfaction with the marking of the anniversary of the Nobel Prize for Ivo Andrić, especially because Andrić studied in Krakow.

Name of the advisor of the Museum Amina Abdičević is connected with another event of great importance for the Museum. For the first time, the Museum of Literature and Theatre Art is getting a permanent exhibition related to theatre art.

According to Abdičević, the exhibition features a brief history of BiH theatre institutions, playwrights, production designers, actors, costume designers, etc. in short, everything that makes up the history of BiH theatre art.

Director of the Museum Šejla Šehabović expressed gratitude to all those who supported these events, including the embassies of Poland, Norway, volunteers and others.

Museum of Literature and Theatre Art of BiH was founded in 1961 under the name Museum of Literature of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Museum got its present name in 1977.

According to estimations, the Museum possesses 67 literary and 30 theatre collections with over 20.000 items.
