Izetbegović: Decision by Serbian Authorities is a responsible Move

Izetbegović at Srebrenica Conference radiosarajevo.baChairman of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegović stated that the decision by the authorities of Republika Srpska to not support the entity RS in the intention to hold the unconstitutional and anti-Dayton referendum is a responsible move and a sign of good will and maturity of the policy of Belgrade in a critical moment.

“I am convinced that preservation of order established by the Dayton Peace Agreement is a joint interest of BiH and a realistic basis for preservation of regional stability and peace, which we all need as a framework for progress,” said Izetbegović.

Commenting on the statement that Serbia did not stop Milorad Dodik in the intention to hold a referendum either, Izetbegović said that Serbia is obliged to support the implementation of the Dayton Peace Agreement and oppose the anti-Dayton activities, but the absence of stronger pressure by the Serbian leadership on entity authorities to give up on the referendum is not an unexpected move because they apparently want to let authorities in the RS, led by SNSD and Milorad Dodik, assume full responsibility for decisions and actions and everything that those decisions and actions might result in.
