“Invest in Srebrenica, now is the right time to do that”, said the member of the Presidency of B&H Bakir Izetbegović, inviting participants of the investment-development conference which is being held in Srebrenica to act.
“Until several decades ago, Srebrenica and the region of Middle Podrinje were a scene of fierce conflicts which resulted in a large number of crimes, and eventually in genocide against Bosniaks when more than eight thousand men were killed”, Izetbegović said, adding:
“It is our obligation to change that image of Srebrenica, and that is why we gathered here today. The times in which we live are turbulent, full of crises and challenges, but the convocation of today’s gathering testifies to our readiness to, with joint work and good neighborly relations, with the best intention solve all difficulties and create quality conditions for investing in this town”, Izetbegović stressed.
Izetbegović noted that this conference should open a new chapter in the life of Srebrenica and its inhabitants, as well as support positive trends in relations with Serbia and other countries of the region, at everyone’s satisfaction and benefit.
“We want to bring life back to Srebrenica, to see young couples with their kids walking through the town with smiles on their faces, we want satisfied people who made their dreams come true in this town and became successful and family people, the way generations of people before them used to be”, Izetbegović said.
As potentials of Srebrenica, Izetbegović highlighted ore resources of Srebrenica region (lead, zinc, silver, bauxite, gold, decorative stone), forest resurces, mineral and medical sources of water (veliki guber, sinus water, eye water, skin water, mali guber), natural resources suitable for development of agriculture, and very significant cultural and historical heritage.
Srebrenica and the region of Middle Podrinje have all prerequisites for becoming economically attractive for serious businesses and serious investors, Izetbegović concluded.
Izetbegović expressed gratitude to the organizational team of the conference led by the Mayor of Srebrenica Ćamil Duraković thanks to whose proactive engagement the investors, businessmen and politicians gathered yesterday in Srebrenica with the intention to make this region an attractive spot for investments and better life.
