BiH has a clear perspective of joining the EU and NATO, which in long-term means both internal and external security of the country, and continues to increase its economic competitiveness, said the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegovic while informing the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Kishi on the current political and economic situation and reform processes in BiH.
Also, Chairman Izetbegovic informed Kishi about the planned projects for infrastructure development in the region, noting that this could be an opportunity for Japanese investors. Besides infrastructure projects, areas in which can be achieved significant trade cooperation are projects in the field of IT sector and tourism, said the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Izetbegovic.
Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Nobuo Kishi praised the European path of BiH and reforms that were implemented so far, with the hope that Japanese investors will continue to invest in BiH. He expressed his unreserved support of the people and the Government of Japan, noting that Japan has always been with BiH that they consider as a friendly country.
During his visit to BiH, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of Japan will officially open Sports Center “Kantarevac” in Mostar, for which the Chairman Izetbegovic thanked the people and Government of Japan, as well as for the overall intensive support to BiH in many other segments.
In conversation was specifically emphasized the project “Dialogue for the Future”, implemented by UNDP, UNESCO and UNICEF, in partnership with the Presidency of BiH and which proved to be extremely successful in promoting dialogue, understanding and cooperation in BiH, particularly among young people. Chairman Izetbegovic expressed his satisfaction that support in the form of grants was provided through this project for the sports academy “Mali most” in Mostar, whose activities took place in the sports center “Kantarevac”, noting that the reconciliation process is crucial for the stability of BiH and the entire region.
Chairman Izetbegovic said that the Presidency of BiH is committed for the project “Dialogue for the Future” to be continued and expanded to other countries in the region, with special focus on the issues of youth, and requested support from the Government of Japan to continue this project.
The meeting, on behalf of the Presidency of BiH from the RS Mladen Ivanic was attended by a representative of the Cabinet Aleksandar Savovic, and on behalf of the Croatian member of the Presidency of BiH Dragan Covic by advisor Dejan Vanjek.
