Izetbegovic: Without SDA it is not possible to establish stable Parliamentary Majorities

The President of the Democratic Action Party (SDA), Bakir Izetbegović, said at the press conference after the session of the party’s Presidency that they had achieved most of the set election goals and with the number of votes won, they confirmed themselves as the winner and the strongest political party in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Given the number of seats we won, without SDA it is not possible to establish stable parliamentary majorities, nor executive bodies at the level of BiH, in the Federation and in most cantons,” Izetbegović stated.

He repeated that the formation of a strong pro-Bosnian bloc is a matter that has no alternative.

According to him, only the formation of a broad pro-Bosnian coalition can provide security for the mandate we are entering.

“Everything else directly opens up space for political forces that are opposed to the interests of the state, its citizens and whose actions we have watched for the past four years,” said the SDA leader.

He noted that the elected representatives of those parties that make up the so-called pro-Bosnian bloc have 60 percent of their hands in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, and in the Parliament of FBiH, they have about 80 percent in the House of Representatives.

Therefore, he added, that strength should be used, “not allowed to be concentrated in the so-called Bosniak quota of 33 percent”.

“The Eight parties prematurely started to form coalitions, before the end of the election process. They have agreements with the HDZ and the SNSD, and we ask that the public be presented with precisely what they accepted, so they made the HDZ and SNSD willing, what they promised, what changes in terms of the Constitution and the Electoral Law, the NATO road to BiH, the gasification projects , projects for the construction of the Buk Bijela hydroelectric power plant on the Drina, the construction of the airport in Trebinje, then the reform of the Public RTV Service, the Intelligence and Security Agency, the Central Intelligence Agency and the like,” said Izetbegović.

We expect, he says, that the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament be quickly constituted and that the president and two vice-presidents of the FBiH be elected, so that the formation of the FBiH Government can begin as soon as possible.
