On 21 February 2022, Ambassadar ITO visited Prime Minister’s Office of Bosnian Podrinje Canton and met the Prime Minister, Ms. Aida Obuća. Ms. Obuća expressed her gratitude for Japan’s supports to the Canton. Ambassador ITO expressed his wish for further developing relations in various fields including socio-economic and cultural cooperation for the future.
On that day Ambassador ITO attended three handover ceremonies in Foca, Gorazde and Praca.
The first ceremony for “The Project for Rehabilitation of Sveti Sava Primary School in Foca“ held at 10:00, he was welcomed by Ms. Jelena Čančar, Director of Sveti Sava Primary School with the presence of Mr. Milan Vukadinović, Mayor of Municipality of Foca. The Government of Japan granted 60,886 EUR (approx. 120,000 KM) to this school for replacing deteriorated floors, toilets and water pipes in the school building.
Second ceremony for “The Project for Equipping Health Center Dr. Isak Samokovlija in Gorazde with Ambulance Vehicles“ held at 12:00, he was welcomed by Mr. Edin Čengić, Director of Health Center Dr. Isak Samokovlija. Ms. Aida Obuća, Prime Minister, Mr. Eniz Halilović, Minister of Social Policy, Health, Displaced Persons and Refugees of Bosnian Podrinje Canton, Mr. Ernest Imamović, Mayor of Gorazde and the related Ministers and the public officials also attended the ceremony. The Government of Japan granted 72,096 EUR (approx. 141,000 KM) to the health center for equipping two ambulance vehicles.
Third ceremony for “The Project for Equipping Health Care Center Praca in Pale-FBH with Medical Equipment“ held at 14:00, he was welcomed by Mr. Medo Žigović, Director of Health Care Center Praca with the presense of Mr. Almin Ćutuk, Mayor of Municipality of Pale (Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina) and the public officials. The Government of Japan granted 42,088 EUR (approx. 82,300 KM) to the Health Care Center for supplying 16 medical equipment such as defibrillator, electrocardiogram, sterilizer, etc.
These three projects implemented it with Japan’s “Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GAGP)” program, have contributed to the improvement of educational and health care environment in these school and health care centers. Direct projects beneficiaries are about 750 pupils, teachers and staff in the school and 11,000 patients annually in these two health care centers in total.
