A handover ceremony for “The Project for Rehabilitation of Saburina Primary School in Sarajevo” was held in the Saburina Primary School in Sarajevo with attendance of Mr. Sakamoto Hideyuki, ambassador of Japan, ambassadors of V4 countries (Visegrad Group: Czechia, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia), Ms. Zineta Bogunić, Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Sarajevo Canton as well as Ms. Meliha Parla, Director of Saburina Primary School.
The handover ceremony was held for the joint development project at the Saburina Primary School under the scheme of Japan and V4 countries for the Western Balkan cooperation. As part of this cooperation, the Government of Japan granted 76,999 EUR (150,595.36 KM) to the Saburina Primary School for repairing of the deteriorated joineries such as windows, window frames and doors in the school building. Total number of direct project beneficiaries is about 260 pupils and 40 teachers and staff in the school.
The Government of Japan attaches importance to the improvement of educational environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and has supported more than 80 educational institutions since 1996.
