The Japanese Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Toshihiro Aiki, visited the city of Konjic, where he met with Mayor Osman Catic and the President of the Konjic City Council, Kenan Greda.

The first official visit was an opportunity to discuss the existing cooperation between Japan and the City of Konjic, as well as plans for the upcoming period.

“Continuing the successful cooperation that our two countries have, and the successful cooperation that Japan maintains with the City Administration of Konjic and Mayor Catic, we are here to discuss future cooperation, which is focused on the economy and healthcare. Konjic holds an important position when it comes to the economy and economic development. There are 10 Japanese companies operating in BiH, mostly in sales; the only company with production is Tsubaki Nakashima, which operates in Konjic, a city that has strength for industry. We are grateful for the support that the City of Konjic provides to our entrepreneurs, who contribute to the economy, which is an example of good cooperation that we aim to continue developing in the future,” said the ambassador.

In parallel, last month, an agreement was signed with the Konjic Health Center for the implementation of a project to procure a new X-ray device, which will enable better conditions for providing healthcare, the Japanese Ambassador to BiH, Toshihiro Aiki, stated.

The visit was also commented on by Mayor Osman Catic.

“We are always pleased when we can discuss and analyze past cooperation and plans for the upcoming period with sincere friends, people who are always ready to help both our homeland, BiH, and the city of Konjic. For us as a community, which strives to attract foreign investment, feedback is extremely important, and we have received it from the ambassador and the Government of Japan regarding the satisfaction of Japanese companies with the relationship they have with the City Administration. The support that the Government of Japan continuously provides to the projects of our healthcare institutions confirms our joint commitment and efforts to strengthen the friendship that BiH and Japan have established over the decades,” emphasized Mayor Catic.

During his first official visit to Konjic, Ambassador Toshihiro Aiki toured the production facilities of Tsubaki Nakashima and visited Tito’s bunker, the ARK D-0 Konjic facility.
