Jasmin Erovic acquitted of Charges of War Crimes against Civilians

In the criminal case against the accused Jasmin Erović, on 30 November 2018 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina delivered a trial judgment acquitting the accused Jasmin Erović of the charges that he committed the criminal offense of War Crimes against Civilians under Article 173(1)e) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The accused Jasmin Erović was acquitted of the charges that during the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the armed conflict between the RBiH Army and the RS Army, from mid-April 1992 to August 1992, in the territory of Alipašino Polje neighborhood, Municipality of Novi Grad – Sarajevo, as a member of the TO „Stela“ Headquarters and RBiH Army Special Units, together with his superior officer Jusuf Prazina aka “Juka“, RBiH Army Special Units commander, and Samir Kahvedžić aka. Kruško, “Stela“ TO Headquarters commander, he acted in violation of Article 3 of the Geneva Convention Relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons In Time of War of 12 August 1949.

The accused Jasmin Erović is acquitted of charges that between May and late July 1992, in the territory of the City of Sarajevo, after Senad Džananović, the warden of detention premises located in the basements of residential buildings in the neighborhood of Alipašino Polje, took witness “A“ from such premises into abandoned apartments located above in the same building, where he raped her, and enabled others to do the same, including Jasmin Erović who repeatedly raped witness “A“.

The trial judgment may be appealed with the Appellate Panel of the Court of BiH within 15 days, after the parties and defense counsel receive a written copy of the judgment.
