mooreThe Head of OSCE Mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina Jonathan Moore issued a statement on the eve of local elections which are to be held this Sunday. In the statement, Moore invites all eligible voters to vote in the upcoming elections. The statement says the following:

“On behalf of all of us at the OSCE Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina, I encourage the country’s eligible citizens to exercise their democratic right and duty, and vote in local elections on 2 October.

Mayors, members of municipal councils and city assemblies have very important responsibilities. Throughout BiH, we have seen how clever, energetic, and dedicated local officials can bring positive attention and prosperity for all.

Living every day in the same communities with their fellow citizens they must deal with practical issues and challenges. Voters should select the candidates best able to address the values, interests, and needs of their cities and municipalities.

In line with our mandate, the Mission will follow the situation throughout the country. Citizens with concerns about the conduct of the elections should address the Central Election Commission, municipal/city election commissions, the Appellate Division of the Court of BiH. Citizens can also address the organizations such as Pod Lupom, that gathers around 3000 independent observers, and we call everyone to cooperate with them.”
