The traditional reception on the occasion of Eid al-Adha was held last night at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences (FIN). The host was the Reis-ul-ulema of the Islamic Community in B&H Husein ef. Kavazovic.
Among the dignitaries at the last night’s reception were also the members of the Presidency of B&H Bakir Izetbegovic and Dragan Covic, member of the Parliamentary Assembly of B&H Sefik Dzaferovic, Cardinal Vinko Puljic, representatives from the Serb Orthodox Church, the President of the Jewish Community and Interreligious Council in B&H Jakob Finci, the President of the Convocation of the Islamic Community in B&H Hasan Cengic, and a number of other guests.
After the welcoming words, Reis Husein ef. Kavazovic addressed the attendees thanking them for their presence and expressing great honor that they are all jointly sharing the joy and moments of Eid holidays, as he said, in “respect and friendship, in love and intimacy”.
“Friendship, love, and intimacy, mutual respect, dedication, togetherness and solidarity are the best part of our faith in our Creator and Lord, and those are the fundamental meanings of the Eid holidays and the simplest messages that all people can understand”, said Kavazovic, adding that solidarity and togetherness are possible only at a universal foundation.
In his speech, Reis Kavazovic recalled the difficulties that the Syrian refugees are dealing with, saying that it is not just a refugee crisis, but also a moral, spiritual and humanitarian crisis.
“However, it is concerning how the governments of many Islamic and European countries are treating the refugee crisis inhumanely and without a moral and political vision. It is especially inconceivable that the citizens and the governments of some countries whose citizens not so long ago fled the tortures of totalitarian regimes via the same routes that the Middle Eastern refugees are using while trying to reach their shelters, do not have a shred of understanding for people with children and bundles in their arms”, said Kavazovic.
Kavazovic emphasized that, even besides that, he feels joy because he sees the readiness of the Bosnians and Herzegovinians to provide help, despite of economic difficulties that are affecting them. Moreover, Reis did not hide his satisfaction with the fact that Christians and Jews are attending the official reception without whom, according to him, the “joy of Muslims would be truncated”.
In the end, Kavazovic congratulated Eid al-Adha to all believers of Islamic denomination, wishing them to be brave, to advocate for other people, and to do good deeds.
