Bosnia and Herzegovina’s entry into the EU opens up new opportunities for investments, business projects and technology transfer, which directly contributes to economic growth and the improvement of citizens’ living standards, said BiH Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmedin Konaković.
“Therefore, it is necessary to continue implementing reforms and strengthening institutions in order to meet EU standards and criteria, which will ultimately bring us closer to the goal of a stable, prosperous and united BiH in the heart of Europe,” said Konaković, who today participated in the 8th Economic Forum which was organized by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Sarajevo.
Konaković emphasized the importance of economic topics for BiH and stated that BiH, despite its considerable potential, has by far the least amount of foreign investment of all the countries in the region, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in the Council of Ministers.
He said that economic diplomacy is the focus of the Ministry, and that it continuously works with diplomatic and consular missions in order to promote investment opportunities in BiH in the world, encourage the export of goods and services and attract tourists.
In the context of the importance of European integration, Konaković emphasized that these days, for the first time, information about exports, imports and investments in BiH is appearing properly, which forces domestic politicians to focus on what is most important to citizens – a better future and job creation.
Konaković said that without political stability there is no economy and that everything is ranked according to that.
The focus of the BiH Economic Forum 2024 is the role of the goals of self-sustainable development as a transformer of social changes with special attention to the challenges facing the region and developing countries such as BiH and the Western Balkans, the announcement stated.
