earth hourThe World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) invited citizens to turn off the lights in their homes and businesses tonight from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm, and thus join the jubilee 10th WWF’s “Earth Hour” in the fight against climate changes.

Together with the world’s greatest attractions, the Old Bridge in Mostar will immerse into darkness on Saturday and thus participate in the global initiative “Earth Hour”. Mostar will join 7,000 other cities in the world that will participate in this activity.

Besides the Old Bridge in Mostar, the City Hall Sarajevo, City Administration Doboj, centers of Prijedor, Bihac, Zenica, Zvornik, Gorazde, Bugojno, Ljubuski and other BH cities will be darkened as well.

With the symbolic turning off the lights during the hour, WWF also called on citizens to “donate” their Facebook profiles by changing their profile pictures and make clear that they want to stop climate change. This can be done very easily by simply following the instructions from the website earthhour.org.

The campaign “Earth Hour” was created in 2007 in Sydney Australia when 2.2 million people and more than 2,000 businesses turned off the lights in their homes and businesses to raise the awareness of climate changes.

In last year’s action participated a total of 178 countries, and BiH joined this campaign in 2011.
