Lower prices are determined by the new Ordinance for the maximum wholesale prices of medicines in BiH, which entered into force 8 days after its publication in the Official Gazette of BiH, on January 21, 2017.

Assistant of the Director of the Department for Medicines at the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of BiH Biljana Tubic, noted that lower prices will bring savings to citizens of BiH.

“Citizens will be able to get certain medicines at lower prices than before. Funds of health insurance will have the opportunity to offer larger amounts of medicines to their users due to lower prices,” said Biljana Tubic.

Tubic, however, noted that the prices of medicines will not be cheaper in all areas.

“After the analysis of the data, it was noticed that the prices of all medicines will not be decreased. However, prices of a large percentage of medicines for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases will be much lower than before. If we also consider the fact that medicines for cardiovascular diseases belong to the top-selling group, then the conclusion is quite clear,” stated Tubic.
