It is time to work for a ceasefire in Gaza and punish illegal Jewish settlers who threaten peace in the West Bank, French President Emmanuel Macron said.
Speaking at a military base where French soldiers are stationed in Jordan, Macron told reporters that the region’s stability was “under threat”.
“I do not forget the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza,” Macron said, stressing that work should be done on a ceasefire in the besieged enclave to reopen the “political horizon.”
Emphasizing that “it is time to punish the Jewish settlers who threaten peace in the West Bank,” Macron said his country was trying to prevent the further spread of conflict in the region.
He said that “every innocent life stolen is a contribution to the fanaticism of today and tomorrow.”
“Houth threats to freedom of navigation in the Red Sea are unacceptable,” he said, referring to the group’s attacks on commercial ships it says are linked to Israel, adding that French soldiers are stationed in many countries in the region, AA writes.
