The group of attackers who killed at least 137 people in Moscow last week had previously attempted attacks in France, said French President Emmanuel Macron on Monday.

“This group, which apparently was involved in this attack, had several attempts on our territory in recent months,” Emmanuel Macron told reporters in Cayenne, the capital of French Guiana.

He added that it would be cynical and counterproductive for Russia and the security of its citizens to try to turn this context against Ukraine.

Macron reiterated France’s solidarity with the Russian people and reminded that the French government, based on credible information, decided to raise the terrorism alert to the highest level on Sunday, after a meeting of the Security Council.

French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal announced that the country has raised its security level to the highest level, as the terrorist group ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack and threats facing France.

At least 137 people were killed and more than 180 wounded after armed attackers opened fire on Friday when the rock band Picnic was scheduled to perform at the Crocus City Hall concert hall in the Moscow region.

The Investigative Committee announced that 11 people, including four perpetrators, had been detained in the border region of Bryansk en route to Ukraine. They are accused of terrorism and have been placed in investigative detention until May 22nd, Radio Sarajevo writes.
