Major General A. Jeleč: Joining NATO is Clear Objective

The new Chief of the Joint Staff of the BiH Armed Forces (OSBiH), General Major Anto Jeleč said that his priorities are to sustain the level of operation in the city and in the world so that the OSBiH continue to provide excellent results.

“We have to continue the level of operations in order to meet all challenges, primarily because of the soldiers who are on Peace Missions of the ISAF in Afghanistan and in the UN Mission in the Congo. We have already demonstrated that the OSBiH has grown into a respectable military force, recognized and respected throughout the world. We have to continue along this path, which is leading to the EU and NATO integration. Our goal is clear, and that is to join NATO’’, said Jeleč for ‘Dnevni Avaz’.

As for the soldiers in OSBiH in Afghanistan, primarily members of the military police who have recently become combat support for Americans in Kandahar, Jeleč said that everything is satisfactory.

‘’It is most important that all soldiers are alive and healthy. They are carrying out their assigned tasks. For now, there has not been an unpleasant situation. Daily reports are sent to us. Members of the military police until now have not been involved in fighting, but they have carried out certain operations outside of the base. They have performed inspections and made contact with civil society. I can only say that Americans are satisfied with our soldiers. We have to be proud of them’’, said Jeleč.
