How many Tourists came to the SFF?

This year’s Sarajevo Film Festival broke the record in terms of the number of guests from abroad, in comparison with all previous years.

Almost 65,000 tourists were registered in Sarajevo in the month of August, while in the period from August 10 to 19, approximately during the Sarajevo Film Festival, around 30,000 registered foreign tourists arrived in the capital of BiH, as confirmed by the Tourist Board of Canton Sarajevo, from which was noted that these are preliminary results.

Also, besides tourists from the United Arab Emirates, who dominated in August, there were also tourists from Turkey, Italy, Germany, Kuwait, Croatia, Bahrain, Israel, Spain, the United States, Poland, China, France, Slovenia, Serbia, Great Britain, Austria, Australia and many other countries.

When it comes to guests from the United Arab Emirates, 4,000 tourists arrived in the city only during the SFF.

Compared to 2016, 2015 and 2014, the last August and the SFF proved to be a strong magnet for tourists from all around the world.

Namely, in the month of August 2016, the Institute of Informatics and Statistics of Canton Sarajevo recorded a total of 49,000 registered guests from abroad, this number was 41,000 in August 2015, while in the year of 2014, and there were 33,000 registered guests from all over the world.

When it comes to overnight stays, and not arrivals of foreign guests, the Institute of Informatics and Statistics of CS reported that this August was a record month for the capital of BiH. In the month of August last year was recorded a total of 140,000 overnight stays, and in previous years this number ranged from 121,000 (2016), 94,000 (2015) to 67,000 (2014).
