Chairman of the BiH Council of Ministers Vjekoslav Bevanda received today in Sarajevo the Director of the International Financial Corporation (IFC) for Europe and Central Asia Tomasz Telmu. They spoke about the modalities of cooperation between the BiH Council of Ministers and the IFC in creating a favorable business environment for private enterprises and new investments.

Bevanda told Director Telmu of the activities of the BiH Council of Ministers aimed at ensuring fiscal consolidation and stability of the country.

He stressed the commitment of the Council of Ministers in business development and entrepreneurship, particularly small and medium-sized businesses in cooperation with entity governments.

Bevanda said that BiH is a country of untapped potential and that the BiH Council of Ministers has intensified efforts to accelerate the construction of priority infrastructure projects such as the highway on Corridor 5-C, and regional cooperation actualized by regional agreements on the construction of the Adriatic-Ionian highway.

Director Telma said that next to the global financial crisis there was a recorded growth of project investments in BiH and in the region. It was said that during the 1990’s until now, the IFC in BiH implemented projects worth 350 million US dolalrs, while current projects of the IFC in BiH amount to 70 million US dollars.

Telma reiterated the commitment of the IFC and World Bank for the development of the private sector in BiH by creating a positive business environment, improve trade in the region, and encourage capital investment in infrastructure through various modalities of cooperation between the private and public sector, whether it is a concession model or private-public partnership.
