Sarajevo Mayor filed a Criminal Complaint against Cosic after a controversial Sign

The mayor of Sarajevo, Benjamina Karic (SDP), filed a criminal complaint against the mayor of Istocno Sarajevo, Ljubisa Cosic (SNSD).

She did this after a sign was placed at the entrance to Istocno Sarajevo that reads: “Welcome to Istocno Sarajevo, a city of 157.000 Serbs who had to leave Sarajevo.”

In the criminal complaint, Karic pointed out that Cosic is in this way responsible for the criminal offense of “Publicly inciting national, racial, or religious hatred, discord or intolerance among constituent peoples and Others, as well as others who live or stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)”.

In the explanation of the criminal complaint, she recalled the siege of the capital of BiH from 1992 to 1995, as well as the verdicts for crimes that occurred during the siege.

Earlier yesterday, Karic called the installation of this board a “scandalous” act that “targets Sarajevo, truth, and justice.” She told Cosic that “he is trying in vain, and a lie repeated a thousand times will never become the truth.” On that occasion, she announced the filing of the criminal complaint.
