OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAMayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić met today with ambassador of Macedonia to BiH Rami Rexhepi, who congratulated him on becoming a mayor.

Ambassador Rexhepi noted that capital of BiH and the capital of Macedonia have good neighbourly relations which were confirmed with the Cooperation Agreement from 2007.

Rexhepi said: ‘Those relations should be continued and jointly improved by realization of concrete projects for the benefit of citizens of both cities’ noted Macedonian ambassador.

In that context he mentioned the Project of building capacities for managing energy in cities. ‘Skopje is one of the cities that we’ve been cooperation with on realization of this project which is financed from EU funds and in which numerous possibilities for both Sarajevo and Skopje are opened’ noted Komšić.

Participants of today’s meeting agreed that they must work on strengthening the position of Sarajevo as the capital city because BiH capital, like all other capitals of the region, has its own competency and its own revenue.

Macedonian ambassador presented an initiative that one street, square or house of culture of Sarajevo be named after tragically killed singer Toše Proeski. Mayor Komšić supported the idea noting that he was a charitable person and a friend of Sarajevo.

Ambassador Rexhepi called the mayor of Sarajevo to visit Skopje, with the aim of exchanging experiences and new ideas in mutual communication of two capitals.
