During her time as a member of the royal family, Meghan Markle worked with numerous charitable organizations and launched several important initiatives. Her interests included mental health, women’s rights, animal welfare, and fostering community connections.
Given the Duchess of Sussex’s focus on the importance of charity work, many experts were surprised she didn’t remain part of the royal family longer. It has also been frequently suggested that her departure was partly due to a misunderstanding of her royal role.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond confirmed this in an exclusive interview with the United Kingdom (UK) media.
“I always felt that Meghan didn’t understand she would never be the main character in the royal family, not even the deputy main character. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with wanting full control over your life. There’s nothing wrong with seeking the spotlight either, but the royal family was simply the wrong vehicle for her ambitions,” she explained.
Jennie also shed light on Meghan’s true ambitions, which may not be what many people think.
“I’m not sure she craves the profile of a superstar. In fact, she’s been quite modest lately, likely enjoying her family life in California. However, she has projects in the works, and I’m sure she’s relishing the control over every detail,” she added.
