Members of BiH Presidency met with the Delegation of United Kingdom

Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Bakir Izetbegovic and member of the Presidency of BiH Mladen Ivanic received a delegation of the British Group Inter-Parliamentary Union (BGIPU).

Chairman of the British Group Inter-Parliamentary Union, Nigel Evans, expressed his gratitude for the reception of the delegation. They expressed the support of the UK to the European path of BiH, despite the fact that negotiations on the withdrawal of the UK from the EU are currently in progress.

Members of the Presidency of BiH expressed their satisfaction with the visit of the delegation, which further confirmed the continues support of the UK to BiH. They emphasized theie commitment to continuation and improvement of bilateral relations, especially when it comes to the field of economy and tourism. Special interest was expressed in signing the necessary agreements that would further contribute to the improvement of economic relations between BiH and the UK.

They also discussed the need for abolishment of the visa regime for citizens of BiH, which would bring numerous benefits.

They agreed that the upcoming Western Balkans Summit in London, which will be held on July 9 and 10, will be very important for maintenance and improvement of the engagement of the UK in that part of the Balkans region.

Members of the Presidency of BiH introduced members of the British Group Inter-Parliamentary Union with the current situation in BiH, with a special focus on its European path and all the activities that are conducted with the aim of fulfilling the conditions for membership in the EU.

Delegation of the British Group Inter-Parliamentary Union included David Drew, delegate and Shadow Farming and Rural Affairs Minister, Martin Vickers, chairman of several Parliamentary Groups for Western Balkans, Helen Jones, the Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Committee for Petitions, Baroness D’Souza, former chairwoman of the House of Lords and member of the Executive Committee of BGIPU, and Baroness Scott of Needham Market, a member of the Liberal Democratic Party.

Advisor Dejan Vanjek attended the meeting on behalf of the member of the Presidency of BiH, Dragan Covic.
