The Minister of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina Selmo Cikotic met today in Sarajevo with the Minister of Justice and Police of Switzerland Karin Keller-Sutter.

During the meeting, they discussed strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two countries, with special emphasis on the issue of migration.

Minister Cikotic expressed satisfaction with the cooperation with Switzerland, which has lasted for many years.

“A number of projects have been implemented with a special sensitivity that Switzerland shows towards BiH in terms of many historical, political, ethnic and other similarities that it can positively transfer through its suggestions and a constructive impact on a large number of open issues, the ability of BiH and the readiness to very actively participate in that exchange and to cooperate, and that this cooperation produces good effects, “he said.

He added that they discussed migration and thanked the Swiss government for its support in resolving some practical issues, such as equipping the Lipa camp.

“This is just one of the most recent examples of how Switzerland is very actively and very concretely monitoring the needs of BiH and showing a willingness to cooperate in the best possible way,” he added.

Keller-Sutter thanked for the hospitable reception from the Minister of Security of our country.

“We both emphasized the good and privileged relationship between BiH and Switzerland, especially in terms of cooperation in the areas of migration and police. BiH is an important transit country and its role is very important when it comes to preventing illegal migration. Switzerland appreciates BiH’s work in this area.” , she added.

In the end, she added that they fully agree that security is an issue that is being worked on together and that it is one task in the interest of all populations.
