Mokra Megara Cave should become the First Protected Nature Area according to International Standards

Mokra Megara Cave on Mount Ozren, located on the entity line between Maglaj Municipality and Doboj City, should become the first protected nature area according to international standards.

In order to reach that goal, it is necessary to explore the cave, and since there are no official institutions dealing with this work, non-governmental organizations and volunteers have taken over this task.

This is a 220 m long cave, with several large chambers, and in the distance of 800 m from this place, and you can approach it by a walk along a forest trail with educational boards.

An interesting findings of the Cave bear (Ursus speleaus) from the Ice Age was in this cave. Besides that, what makes the Megara cave great for tourists are the ornaments including the cave paintings. The spider species Rhode stalitoides, an endem of Bosnia and Herzegovina, from the Megara cave, which has a rich cave fauna.
