bh_pasos_zastavaThe working group for monitoring the implementation of the decision on visa-free regime for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the EU / Schengen countries was held yesterday in Sarajevo at the regular meeting that once again confirmed that Bosnia and Herzegovina is implementing all commitments of the Roadmap for visa liberalization and post–visa monitoring period, including the submission of regular reports to the European Commission in Brussels.

The monitoring team has officially confirmed that the most recent commitments that were set for Bosnia and Herzegovina have been implemented, including the establishment of a system of electronic data from the records of the police authorities and prosecutors in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and closing of 22 locations suitable for the illegal crossing of the border between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro.

Also, at the meeting the so-called mechanism for the temporary suspension of visa-free regime for third countries who have yet to become part of the EU visa system was discussed, and it was stated that this mechanism does not apply to any country or region in particular, and will be used as a “last means” in very urgent situations caused by the misuse of a visa-free regime. Considering the current compliance, it was estimated that this measure will not be applied to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
