The Minister of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Zukan Helez, received Ambassador Vladimir Vučinić, head of the NATO Department for Political Activities and Support, who was recently assigned to the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, on an official visit.

They discussed the NATO integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the achievements of BiH so far, but also the obstacles on the way.

Helez emphasized the need for faster modernization of the Armed Forces of BiH, especially in the context of greater equipping of the armed forces of the countries of the region.

“According to data from Brussels, the NATO Fund for DCB currently has around 6.5 million euros available. We have to work even harder to encourage the growth of this fund,” emphasized Minister Helez.

in his speech, dozić pointed out that Bosnia and Herzegovina can still count on every form of assistance from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. He emphasized the importance of NATO’s growing political presence in our country. He praised the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina had already successfully hosted several high-level NATO meetings and announced that it would continue in this direction.

“We will always support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as we have in the past three decades. NATO will not allow a security vacuum in BiH. We know about all your difficulties. It is important to have a constant political dialogue,” stated Vučinić.

The interlocutors agreed that it is important to have a good understanding of the problems that BiH is facing today, and singled out as particularly important the work on the BiH Reform Program and the proposal for the first Individually adapted cooperation program with NATO for BiH (BiH-ITPP).
