Nearly 6,000 citizens participated in today’s protests in Sarajevo under the title “Bosnia and Herzegovina for a Free Palestine” – confirmed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Sarajevo Canton.

The protest march, which took place peacefully, began at the Monument to the Murdered Children of the Besieged Sarajevo 1992-1995, and ended in the park between the Historical and National Museums of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The protesters carried Palestinian flags and banners with messages such as “Free Palestine”, “Stop the Genocide” and “Stop Killing Children”, expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people.

The participants previously told Fena that Bosnia and Herzegovina, as a country that survived the siege and genocide, has a moral obligation to stand with the people of Gaza and support their fight for survival, dignity and freedom.

The program included songs dedicated to Palestine, and actress Irma Alimanović interpreted Edin Krehić’s poem “The Song of a Child and Silence”. The protest ended with the performance of the song “Bella Ciao”, which in this context served as a symbol of resistance and the fight for freedom.

During the gathering, citizens also had the opportunity to sign a petition demanding the fulfillment of specific demands. The organizers announced that they would subsequently submit these demands to the competent institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

According to data from the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior, the protest passed without incidents, and the number of participants was estimated at around 6,000. The gathering took place in an atmosphere of dignity, with strong messages of support for the Palestinian people.
