The Vice President of the Serbian Democratic Party, Želimir Nešković, stated that the party has clear and valid decisions from its highest bodies regarding candidacies for the upcoming elections.
“The Serbian Democratic Party already has decisions from the Main Board and the Assembly of the party that we have candidates for both of the most important individual positions, the President of the Republika Srpska and the Serb member of the Presidency of BiH. All other interpretations and statements that appear in public do not represent the official position of the Serbian Democratic Party,” said Nešković, according to a statement from the SDS.
He emphasizes that at this moment the party’s priority is to complete the candidacy process for the President of the Republika Srpska at the next session of the Main Board.
“We must conclude the story related to the candidacy of the President of the Serbian Democratic Party, Professor Branko Blanuša, for the President of the Republika Srpska at the Main Board of the Serbian Democratic Party, and then open talks with other parties from the opposition bloc about the candidacy of the Serb member of the Presidency of BiH,” Nešković emphasized.
Commenting on the statements about the alleged agreements within the opposition, Nešković said that institutional and joint communication is necessary for serious political processes and that the Serbian Democratic Party has a large number of people who have achieved electoral victories and who can be holders of the most important positions, as well as candidates for the most important non-partisan positions.
“It is also good if Mr. Stanivuković gives his support to Professor Blanuša in his candidacy for the presidency of the Republika Srpska,” he said.
Nešković emphasized that unity is key to the success of the opposition.
According to his statement, no political organization must be excluded from the agreement of all parties in the opposition bloc.
“We need a broad front and a joint approach because that is the only way we can bring about changes in the Republika Srpska,” concluded Nešković.
