Netanyahu approves Plans for military operation in Rafah in southern Gaza

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu approved a plan for a military operation in Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip.

The media office of the Israeli Prime Minister published a statement after the meeting of the Israeli war cabinet regarding the rejection of the Hamas offer and the approval of the attack on Rafah.

As stated in the announcement, Netanyahu approved the Israeli army’s plan to attack Rafah in the south of Gaza.

“The army is preparing for the operation and the evacuation of the (civilian) population,” it was stated.

It was also reported that Netanyahu rejected Hamas’s latest offer regarding a cease-fire and prisoner exchange agreement, stating that the conditions are “still irrational.”

The approval for the attack on Rafah came despite warnings from the international community, including the United States and Egypt, not to enter Rafah, home to some 1.5 million displaced Palestinians.

Hamas announced yesterday that it had forwarded the proposal for a ceasefire and a prisoner exchange agreement with Israel to mediators in Qatar and Egypt.

Netanyahu rejected Hamas’ latest ceasefire proposal, calling it “absurd”, AA writes.
