New Decision: In the diplomatic Missions of BiH, only the Symbols of BiH are allowed

“Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH,Bisera Turkovic signed a decision regulating and further regulating the conduct of employees in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of BiH and diplomatic and consular missions (DKP) pursuant to the Law on Coat of Arms of BiH, the Law on the flag of BiH, and the Law on the National Anthem of BiH.

According to the mentioned decision, the BiH MFA and the BiH DKP use the coat of arms, flag, and national anthem of BiH in accordance with the laws of BiH, taking into account laws, other regulations, practices, and current circumstances in the hoststate, ” reports Anadolu Agency (AA).

Among other things, the decision noted that all employees of the BiH MFA and DKP BiH are obliged to immediately inform the Assistant Minister for General Affairs and the Head of the Department for Diplomatic Protocol at the MFA BiH, or the head of the DKP BiH in writing if they notice a physical or other defects in the coat of arms or flags of BiH that have been publicly used or displayed by the MFA of BiH or the DKP of BiH, or if they notice that the coat of arms or flag looks unfit for use or is not suitable for public display.

A reaction is also prescribed in case of finding out that the coat of arms or flag of BiH has been publicly used or displayed by the MFA of BiH or DKP BiH in a manner contrary to the Law on the Coat of Arms of BiH or the Law on Flag of BiH, or the national anthem of BiH is performed in a manner contrary to the provisions of the Law. “

The Assistant Minister for General Affairs in the MFA of BiH and the Head of the DKP of BiH are obliged, upon their own knowledge or upon receipt of notifications from employees of the MFA of BiH or DKP BiH, to immediately initiate the procedure of replacing the coat of arms or flag of BiH that are not suitable for use or public presentation by the BiH MFA or the BiH DKP.

Apart from that, the head of the DKP BiH is obliged, upon his own knowledge or upon receipt of information from the employees of the DKP BiH, to immediately inform the Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH in writing: in case the coat of arms or flag of BiH are exhibited in a manner contrary to the provisions of the Law on the Coat of Arms of BiH or the Law on the Flag of BiH during bilateral or multilateral meetings, competitions, or other gatherings organized by the host state, foreign diplomatic and consular missions, or international organizations accredited in the host state reception, if the host state, a foreign diplomatic or consular mission, or an international organization failed to display the flag of BiH during such meetings or gatherings, or displayed the flag of BiH together with other flags of BiH, ” it was mentioned in the decision.

It was also emphasized that non-compliance with the provisions of this decision is subject to a misdemeanor and disciplinary liability in accordance with the law and regulations.
