taxDirector of Tax Administration of the Republic of Srpska, Zora Vidović, said that one of the novelties in the fight against the underground economy is that no one who has a debt to the Tax Administration will not be able to register a new company, as they will not be able to get a tax number, and identification cards for registered workers will be introduced as well.

Vidović stated that the tax inspectors get jurisdiction to control unregistered employees and to seal all the operations in which they find them.

“It was the request of the business community and trade unions. The union was particularly interested, since it protects the workers, as well as the employers, because that way they can fight against unfair competition,” said Vidović for “Glas Srpske“.

She stated that every worker who has the identification card will know that he has been registered, and will need to wear it in a visible place so that the inspector can see it during the control.

“The card will be free of charge, and will be printed at the expense of the Tax Administration. The employer will be obliged to register employees the day before they start to work. So far, the deadline was eight days,” said Vidović.

She said that this will have positive effects for sure, since the Tax Administration of the Republic of Srpska and Inspectorate received greater powers, so that all inspectors will be able to control unregistered work and unregistered workers as well.

zora“So far, objectively there was no capacity to control this,” said Vidović.

Director of Tax Administration of the Republic of Srpska said that the proposed new penalty for inspectors that cannot  re-perform its duty in case it gets convicted for corruption, no matter for how long period is very good, explaining that so far those who were condemned to six months could return to the work of inspectors again.

The Government of the Republic of Srpska adopted the proposal of amendments to the set of legal solutions and Action Plan for Reduction of the underground economy on Thursday, April, 9.
