The crew of the 2nd helicopter squadron of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH) carried out an emergency medical evacuation by air yesterday, in the morning hours, of an endangered participant of the “Peace March 2023″ from Srebrenica to Sarajevo, announced the Ministry of Defense of BiH.
The helicopter team of the AFBiH, together with other resources of the AFBiH, is engaged in the execution of support tasks for the “Peace March 2023″ event, in the period from July 8th to 11th.
In the statement of the Ministry of Defense of BiH, it is stated that the health condition of a citizen of the Republic of Turkey, a doctor engaged in the organization “Can veren eller ustegi”, who was also a participant in the March of Peace, with the aim of medical support for the vulnerable, has deteriorated, and so she found herself in the role of a patient.
With the emergency intervention of the helicopter team of the AFBiH, a medical evacuation was carried out between 10.07 and 10.40 a.m., on the Nova Kasaba-Rajlovac route, after which the patient was handed over to the staff of the University Clinical Center in Sarajevo in a stable condition.
BiH Minister of Defense Zukan Helez praised and awarded all members of the helicopter crew due to the extremely quick reaction of the crew of the 2nd helicopter squadron and the professionalism shown during the execution of the task.
The Ministry of Defense and the AFBiH will continue to professionally and responsibly carry out all assigned tasks in accordance with the mission defined by the Law on Defense of BiH, it was announced.
