New Price Increases along with the Increase of Excise Duties on Fuel?

produtsIntroduction of additional excise of 0.15 fenings per liter of fuel and auto-gas would have the biggest effect on transporters and processors, and consumers would pay the guild when greeted with new price increases at the gas pumps and markets.

Vice President of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, Nemanja Vasic, believes that the increase of excise will inevitably lead to an increase in prices of products, especially in the transportation sector and the processing industry.

“That would be a new strike on producers and the pockets of consumers, but we are more afraid of the increase of oil prices on the world market, since in that case the price of fuel would be further increased,” said Vidic, adding that the institutions did not have understanding for appeals of the Foreign Trade Chamber of BiH, which, by representing the interests of producers, repeatedly emphasized the harmful effects of the planned measures.

Director of the shoe factory “Bema” from Banja Luka, Marinko Umicevic, said that the decision of Ministers in Sarajevo is illogical and unacceptable.

“The budget cannot be and must not be filled by increasing excise taxes on fuel and tobacco. Excise duties on luxury goods should be introduced, rather than on fuel on whose prices depend prices of almost all products,” said Umicevic.

“Transporters will raise their prices and therefore our spending on monthly tickets of our workers will be higher, food costs of employees will increase, not to mention the cost of production and distribution of our products,” said Umicevic.

The increase in excise duties on beer, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, which was also proposed by the Governing Board of the Indirect Taxation Authority, was not adopted on the meeting of the Council of Ministers of BiH.
