New Suspension for Prosecutor Diana Kajmakovic

The High Judicial and Prosecutorial Council (HJPC) has again suspended state prosecutor Diana Kajmakovic until the end of the criminal investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH).

After the Disciplinary Prosecutor’s Office submitted a new request for the temporary dismissal of Kajmakovic, because the criminal investigation was initiated, the HJPC made a new decision on suspension. By the previous decision, Kajmakovicwas removed from performing her duties since disciplinary proceedings were conducted against her.

Deciding on the aforementioned request, by the decision of the First Instance Disciplinary Commission of the HJPC of BiH, Diana Kajmakovic is temporarily suspended from performing her duties, starting from March 21st, 2024, until the end of the criminal investigation according to the Order on Conducting the Investigation of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH – it was stated from HJPC.

With the adoption of this decision by the HJPC, the temporary measure of removal that was valid until the end of the disciplinary procedure, which ended with the transfer of Kajmakovic from the position of deputy chief prosecutor to the position of prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, ended.

In the end, Kajmakovic was declared responsible for having committed the disciplinary offense of “using the function of the prosecutor to obtain unjustified benefits for herself or other persons”.

According to an earlier statement, Kajmakovic was declared responsible and for – knowing that the checks of the allegations in the prosecutor’s case refer to the checks of the communications of criminal persons from the “Sky applications” case in relation to her – she asked the expert associate to inspect the documents from the case file, and in this way, she used the function in order to obtain unjustified benefits for herself in the form of obtaining information that cannot be available to her.

In December 2023, the United States (U.S.) banned Kajmakovicfrom entering the country, and earlier sanctions were imposed on her by the same country.
