65 Million BAM for Military Helicopters of BiH Armed Forces

The Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), at the proposal of the Ministry of Defense, issued a Decision on a multi-year project for the procurement of helicopters for the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of BiH (AFBiH), worth 65 million BAM.

This multi-year project will be realized in the period from 2018 to 2021, with the financial assistance of the United States Government on the basis of a signed agreement between the two states.

The Ministry of Defense provided two helicopters with savings from its budget of 6.2 million BAM, among other things, by reducing travel, transportation, fuel, material purchase, rental of property and equipment. At the same time, the United States will provide five million US dollars, with its donation from the military aid program on the basis of the agreement signed with the BiH Council of Ministers in 2001.

The dynamics of financing from budget funds in the forthcoming period is conditioned by the adopted Global Framework of Fiscal Balance and Policies in BiH for the medium term.

The Council of Ministers and the Presidency of BiH have previously supported the Ministry of Defense’s request to purchase two new medium-sized transport helicopters and two fire fighting for light multipurpose helicopters, due to the worsening and lasting of existing aircrafts.
