As everything else related to the former Yugoslavia, there is a lot of stories about the “paradise for people”, a time when we all lived in luxury and the whole family would be enjoying at a resort on the Adriatic Sea for at least one week during the summer.
Of course, the situation today is not like before and holiday for the whole family is not a simple piece of cake for the average pocket.
It is interesting that the idea of summer hedonism was not present until the sixties when the government motivated working people to activate a bit more, take a break and spend it on the Adriatic coast. While foreign destinations were and remained unreachable, domestic coasts during those sixties were represented through comparisons with Cannes, Saint Tropez and Monte Carlo.
And while the number of young people would head off to youth work actions during the summer holidays, the state would send children whose parents had the lower income to the sea.
