With an appropriate ceremony organized by the Majlis of Islamic Community of Mostar, the newly built trade-craft center Bazaar was opened in Mostar yesterday, thus enriching the UNESCO’s zone of the old town of Mostar.

A modern facility with 23 stores covering 900 square meters was officially opened by the envoy of the Reis ul-Ulema of the Islamic Community in BiH Husein Effendi Kavazović and Director of the Administration for Religious Affairs Nusret Avdibegović and the investor from Saudi Arabia Abdul Aziz Al Othaim.

The project was implemented with the help of the Waqf Directorate of the Riyasat of Islamic Community in BiH, headed by Senaid Efendi Zaimović, who said that this bazaar is very important for the citizens of Mostar and the entire Islamic community because this is a project that emerged from a series of waqfs (donations) which were aimed at providing general benefit for the people.

This location is very specific because it is a part of the zone under the protection of UNESCO, but also because of its culturological value, which gives a special touch to this facility.

In addition to many delegations, the ceremony and first shopping in the newly opened Bazaar were attended by the Minister of Education, Culture and Sport of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Rašid Hadžović, chief advisor to the Mayor of Mostar Radmila Komadina, main imam of the Majlis of Islamic Community Mostar Suljo Effendi Cikotić, and many others. Mostarske kiše performed the famous song “Emina” by the Mostar poet Aleksa Šantić.
