Acting on the basis of a search warrant issued by the BiH Prosecutor’s Office, police officers of the BiH Border Police, at the Karakaj border crossing, detained the suspect Borislav Gligorević, born in 1971 in Snagov, Zvornik, the BiH Prosecutor’s Office announced.
The aforementioned suspect is under investigation by the prosecutor of the Special Department for War Crimes and is suspected of acting contrary to the provisions of the Geneva Conventions on the Protection of Civilians during Armed Conflicts in 1992 as a member of the VRS and the “White Eagles” TO Zvornik unit.
He is accused of having, together with other persons, while a large number of civilians of Bosniak nationality in the village of Liplje were in illegal detention, who were repeatedly abused and a large number of women sexually abused, came to the houses where the civilians were imprisoned, and with the threat of force and danger to life committed the rape of two women, who were illegally imprisoned in the aforementioned facilities.
Given that the prosecutor’s office and partner law enforcement agencies found out that the suspect is outside Bosnia and Herzegovina, a search was launched for him, and he was detained on Friday when he entered the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After the questioning of the suspect, the acting prosecutor sent to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina a proposal for the determination of a detention measure, which was explained in detail at the hearing held this morning, and the decision of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the proposal for detention is expected, according to the statement.
