In Tuzla today the official opening of Info Center for Energy Efficiency will take place. The opening is planned for 11:00 within SKPC Mejdan, and the Center will be opened by Thomas Rojas, the Director of the Economic Department of USAID/BiH and Jasmin Imamović, Mayor of Tuzla, announced USAID and municipality Tuzla.
The establishment of the Info Center for Energy Efficiency in Tuzla is a response to the obvious need for a single place where people can receive all necessary information and knowledge about the useful and attractive solutions to energy efficiency, which in addition to saving money offers new business opportunities and employment.
As educated consumers, citizens could contribute to making thoughtful decisions when purchasing energy efficient products and services. USAID’s project Economics of Energy Efficiency (3E) is a program worth 4.5 million dollars for the promotion of energy efficient technology through the pilot project in facilities cofinanced by the public and private sectors.
USAID 3E worked on increasing the capacity of municipal partners in the public sector, as well as small and medium businesses. The project also worked on raising public awareness about the benefits of energy efficiency.
So far, the US government, primarily through USAID, has provided nearly 1.6 million dollars for the support to the economic, democratic and social progress of B&H, said in a USAID statement.
