factoryFrom this season, the company “Agrokontrola” from Orasje will start with the production, processing and refining of seed wheat as the first company of this kind in BiH.

“There is no producer of wheat seed and seed material for cereals in the FBiH, and they spend tens of millions of BAM which irreversibly go to Croatia and Serbia,” said Mato Brkic, the Minister of Agriculture, Water and Forestry in the Government of Posavina Canton.

He emphasized that each covering of these imports with domestic production means financial gain for our country.

“We need to establish cooperation in the area of the Posavina Canton, where will be sown cereals and we will get high-quality mercantile wheat that we will be able to offer to the market,” added Minister Brkic.

“This work that we are doing in “Agrokontrola” is special, and I would say, significant for the wider area. We, in the Posavina Canton, produce over 15,000 tons of wheat, but the wheat assortment does not have such quality to meet EU standards, and farmers will have to switch to the assortment of grains,” said the owner of the company, Hasan Nurkic.

He emphasized that Turkey is massively buying wheat from BiH in the last two years, but they are seeking for amount of proteins as in the EU since last year.
