Ćamil Ahmetović, from the Civil Protection Service of Sapna, spoke to Dnevnik 2 about the situation in Sapna. He pointed out that the competent commission visited the threatened places – the damage is around one million and 380 thousand marks.

A state of natural disaster has been declared in the Sapna area. The storm accompanied by heavy rainfall that hit this area yesterday left serious consequences because the water overflowed from the beds of rivers and streams and threatened residential and auxiliary buildings, as well as roads. There are no human victims.

“The most damaged were the regional roads the damage there is about 430 thousand marks. Local roads are next – about 400 thousand marks,” Ahmetović pointed out. As for crops, the damage is about 280 thousand marks, he added.

When it comes to the causes of the floods, Ahmetović first notes that there was a large amount of precipitation: Even if everything was working as it should, the troughs could not receive all the water.

Another problem is the insufficient conscience of the citizens – the waste thrown into the streams blocked the culverts and there was a spill. The third reason is insufficient maintenance of local roads, in terms of canal cleaning – and smaller amounts of water create a problem”.
